Integrative Somatics
My passion is working with people to shift the impacts of personal and collective trauma. With 20 years of experience in the field I bring compassion and skill to each session. My practice is based on integrating the whole of a person's experience, listening to the wisdom that the body reveals, and supporting this wisdom in guiding the work we do together.
What is Somatic Experiencing ®?
Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) was developed by Peter A. Levine, PhD to address the effects of trauma. Levine developed this approach after observing that prey animals, whose lives are routinely threatened in the wild, are able to recover readily by physically releasing the energy they accumulate during stressful events. Humans, on the other hand, often override these natural ways of regulating the nervous system with feelings of shame and pervasive thoughts, judgments, and fears. Somatic Experiencing aims to help people move past the place where they might be “stuck” in processing a traumatic event.
Kristen's practice focuses on somatic and contemplative practices which bring us into greater aliveness, presence and choice in our lives. We move from our structural conditioning towards an embodied path of personal and collective liberation.

Workbook in process!

Kristen is currently developing a workbook bridging the work of Somatic Experiencing®, attachment repair, character structures, and de-colonizing practices. The workbook will highlight the physiological underpinnings of inter-generational & developmental trauma and include exercises for working with these elements.
